Program Highlights
During the 9-month program Amanda participated in leadership workshops each month focusing on education, economic development, government, healthcare, public safety, infrastructure, serving the community, and leadership development. In these 9-months Amanda sharpened her leadership skills and learned about all the moving parts involved in running, shaping, and maintaining communities. The nine-month course ends in a celebration honoring the participants who complete the requirements of the program. The luncheon event includes the presentation of the graduates, as well as honoring the year’s LMC Distinguished Alumnus. For more information about the program click

Child Advocates Project
One of the highlights of the program is the class project which benefits a local non profit. The class of 2021 chose CASA Child Advocates of Montomery County. Amanda and her classmates responded to CASA’s needs by creating a disaster response plan; creating an online information resource database for advocates; completing renovations of 5 visitation rooms at the Department of Family & Protective Services office; and organizing and hosting a virtual life skills training event for teens in the foster care system with resources to allow for repeating the event in the future!
We are so proud of Amanda and the entire 2021 graduating class working together to become better leaders! Click
