Texas Children’s Hospital, in the greater Houston area, is a hospital with 20 specialty clinics, 72 exam rooms, 25 emergency patient rooms, 32 acute care beds, 12 radiology suites, and 28 critical care rooms. The 21-acre site is master planned for growth, including a 12-story hospital, three 8-story medical office buildings, 2 parking garages, and a central plant. Vogt Engineering coordinated with the design team to prepare the civil components of the master planned infrastructure within the high-density development.

The project included a multi-level parking garage, pedestrian bridge connection from the parking garage to the building, grade transitions, and careful attention to detail in building placement due to complex watershed, surrounding easements, and master planned infrastructure. Vogt Engineering provided extensive knowledge in the multi-agency submittal processes; codes and requirements; and coordination with utility providers. Additionally, Vogt Engineering provided instrumental master planned drainage design incorporating comprehensive watershed analysis of offsite flow as well as creative solutions to shallow outfall conditions.

Vogt Engineering's diligent work reduced the permitting and approval schedule of the main site by 6 months.

The future density of the project required close coordination with the project architect, the project MEP, and the project landscape architect for location of the central plant infrastructure corridors with respect to future buildings and surface components of the site such as benches, pick up and drop of shade covers, art features, and general landscaping.
