Vogt Engineering Supports the YMCA

June 2, 2022

The YMCA is not just a place, they are a purpose.

For over 135 years the YMCA of Greater Houston has focused on empowering young people, improving health and well-being, and inspiring action in and across our growing communities.

In 2021 alone, the local YMCAs served 105,412 meals to families and seniors in the Houston area totaling 2 million pounds of food; 30,000 children received school supplies through YMCA Operation Backpack; and the Y’s Child Sex Trafficking Advocates helped 106 youth victims of sex trafficking by providing intensive emotional support and victim-centered services.

The needs of our community are diverse and evolving, and the Y is needed now more than ever. Together, we can strive to create a stronger community and bring about meaningful change for the betterment of all. The Greater Houston YMCA has launched its annual campaign to ensure everyone has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Every day, our local YMCA works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues, such as school readiness, chronic diseases, and drowning prevention.

Your support is vital.

Please consider supporting the efforts in strengthening the community through the YMCA as we face new challenges that create a greater need for the work the YMCA does. All funds raised stay in our community and will help establish new opportunity centers and senior wellness sites in Montgomery County.

The child who gains confidence through learning opportunities, the active older adult who is no longer isolated and is living a healthy and active lifestyle, a family given opportunities to spend quality time together: these opportunities positively impact so many in our area. Vogt Engineering is happy to have shown our support through a donation this year. Donating to the YMCA is easy and can be done anytime. Please consider contributing, alongside Vogt Engineering.

May is National Bike Month, but Vogt Engineering celebrates and encourages biking all year. Our team enjoys using our office bikes to get out and experience nature, taking advantage of our central location in The Woodlands Town Center. About National Bike Month National Bike Month, after many previous iterations, was officially established in 1956. Today, National Bike Month is sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists , which incorporates accessible ways to start biking by hosting smaller experiences such as National Bike to Work Week (usually held the third week of May), and Bike to Work Day (usually that Friday). Health Benefits According to the Harvard School of Public Health , biking can help “improve mental health by lowering stress levels and stimulating feel-good endorphins.” Other health benefits include: improved cardiovascular fitness stronger muscles greater coordination and general mobility reduced body fat Vogt's Commitment to our Team and the Environment One of Vogt Engineering’s major considerations when looking for an office was easily accessible trails for riding bikes and walking. We are fortunate to have found a great place to be with our great team of people. Not only is biking and being outdoors good for mental and physical health, but we value working with the environment in everything we do. Although many civil engineering projects require earth movement, Vogt is committed to finding solutions that complement the natural surroundings of the site. Get Involved There are many local entities that organize Bike Month events, including The Woodlands, Harris County Precinct 3 (at Burroughs Park), and more.
